Momentum 2010
On March 8, join White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett, Pulitzer Prize winning writer Connie Schultz, philanthropist Mavis Leno and diversity and inclusion expert Audra Bohannon at the statewide Momentum 2010: Ohio’s Women’s Summit. Momentum 2010 is being coordinated by the Governor’s Office for Women’s Initiatives and Outreach and First Lady Frances Strickland.
Momentum 2010 will take place on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2010 at the Vern Riffe Center; 77 South High Street in downtown Columbus. The day will focus on promoting the status of Ohio women and girls through education, economics and health. A range of diverse speakers will present on topics including entrepreneurship, leadership, women’s health and access to higher education. Onsite registration for Momentum 2010 begins at 7:30 a.m. and the program begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. Online registration is open and tickets are $25 for those who sign up before Feb. 4, and $45 starting on Feb. 5. Register now – space is limited!
A statewide Momentum 2010 Young Women’s Summit for girls ages 12-18 is also being planned for Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Columbus School for Girls. Registration is $5 and more information can be found at www.ohiowomen2010.org.

The Working Women's Forum (WWF) is a women's organisation in southern India. It was founded in 1978 by Jaya Arunachalam in Madras (Chennai). The WWF aims to empower poor women in southern India by providing microcredits, a trade union health care and training. It works with the poor women working in the informal sector, such as street vendors, silkworm growers and silk weavers, handicraft producers, washerwomen and fisherwomen.
There are two organisations closely related to the WWF:
- Indian Co-operative Network for Women (ICNW), provides loans
- National Union of Working Women (NUWW), a trade union
